This exciting opportunity in our Planning function will focus on one of Officeworks’ biggest and boldest growth product categories, our education portfolio.

Leading a strong planning team that is driving profitable sales growth, the role of Divisional Planning Manager is integral to the way we support and deliver our three pillars of Low Prices, Widest Range and Great Service. We are excited to reveal this new senior planning opportunity as we look to accelerate our growth strategies.

With a focus on Education, this key commercial role will lead a culture of support and excellence, setting clear standards and planning direction to support the company’s vision.

Developing and leading the strategic direction of this product portfolio within the Planning function, focus will be on achieving all KPI’s through the development and implementation of sustainable merchandise strategies inclusive of merchandise plan, range plan, and trading the department in season. Driving Sales & Margin whilst optimising Inventory and stock flow is key, with a focus on Assortment Planning & the Range Review Process, planning for long term success.

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Responsible for the Merchandise Planning activity, driving sales and managing margins & clearance e.g. identifying stock opportunities to drive sales, markdown management etc.
  • Optimising stock flow and volumes into stores and Supply Chain facilities.
  • In partnership with the Buying Managers and Planners, manage the merchandise financial plan to achieve sales, margin, net income, stockturn and GMROI budgets
  • Support the development of strategic supplier relationships, improving DIFOT and supplier income
  • Build, support and drive a highly capable divisional planning team to ensure delivery of planning and business goals
  • Drive the Planning and buying teams with reporting and financial forecasting, delivering clear strategies and capability in management of product life cycle, optimum stock turns and GMROI’s

About you

Our successful candidate will be tertiary qualified in Accounting, Business or Finance with 10 years Planning experience, with a minimum 5 years in a leadership role. You will have extensive importing experience and have established planning and organisational skills that are well balanced with your commercial acumen and analytical capability.  Advanced planning experience with merchandise procurement, planning and reporting solutions is expected.

Your ability to inspire, negotiate, influence and present, sees you effectively communicating with your team and all key stakeholders toward achieving positive outcomes. As a leader, you are decisive, inclusive, collaborative and prioritises learning and development.
