This exciting senior merchandise role will deliver Officeworks’ global sourcing objectives with a focus on financial performance and continued improvement of the direct sourcing process. Managing vendor and agent performance, the project management process and speed to market, this key role will ensure our overall private brand range execution.

Leading the ongoing global sourcing process review and improvement, and supporting the Merchandise and Brand Teams interaction, the effective management of sourcing agents, trading companies and factory direct suppliers will be integral to success. Ensuring projects are delivered to agreed timelines through effective project management and stakeholder engagement, key focus areas will include:

• Driving key financial metrics including import sales & margin, stock turn targets and agreed GMROI  

• Ensuring robust Supplier Engagement with a focus on Quality and Ethical and Responsible Sourcing Compliance

• Meeting FSC & Recycled Fibre Targets

• Overall Product Stewardship

• Proactively grow imports and private label brands, with a focus on direct suppliers and agents

• Oversee the curation of ranges that significantly improves financial metrics and meets our overall Merchandise strategy expectations of product, style, quality, brand and finish

• Continued improvement of the overall product development process and final execution, ensuring product & packaging quality is fit for purpose and delivered on time.

• Ensure Global Sourcing Trade Practices Laws compliance and safety

About you

Driving ambitious growth strategies for Officeworks’ Global Sourcing category requires a creative,  inspirational and commercial visionary with significant direct sourcing experience leading teams and fostering exceptional stakeholder engagement with external supply networks.

As a Head Of in our Merchandise function, you have the ability to sell a vision. You enjoy and have skill in taking a product development team on a journey of growth, encouraging buy-in and inspiring empowerment and collaboration.

Our ideal candidate will be tertiary qualified in a Business or Commerce related field; an MBA would be highly regarded. Your innovative and big-picture mindset is well balanced with an advanced commercial acumen and focus on continuous improvement.

 

This key opportunity in our growing Global Sourcing team will leverage established global sourcing experience within a large, retail/FMCG environment.

Key considerations:

• Minimum 5 years buying experience and minimum 3 years direct importing with a large retailer

• Tertiary Qualification in Business related discipline

• Outstanding communication and team leadership skills

• Ability to engage and influence others

• Advanced analytical capability complementing strong financial and commercial nous with sound knowledge of regulatory and statutory compliance

• Competency with Microsoft Suite and Advanced Excel skills
