About the role

An exciting leadership opportunity is available within our growing Space Planning Team. We are looking for an experienced and proactive Micro Space Manager to join our progressive Merchandise team and help continue our journey to become a space-led business.

This is a chance to lead a high performing Space Planning Team using the best-in-class Blue Yonder (formerly JDA) software suite who are customer focused and data driven, supporting strong growth across the business.

A creative problem solver, our successful candidate will understand the financial impact of space planning decisions and is able to clearly articulate their insights and direction to key stakeholders. Your experience with space planning and planogramming principles coupled with your ability to undertake analysis to ensure we are focused on maximising commercial return on space, will stand you in good stead for this role.

Working closely with the Commercial, Property, and Operations teams this key role will deliver improved space performance through the Officeworks Range Review process by supporting your team to create and maintain data driven, customer-lead planograms which maximise sales and profitability.

Key focus areas:

  • Lead and inspire a motivated Micro Space Team to create and maintain planograms
  • Lead an evolving team who embrace change, actively contributing to merchandise standard development, evolution of tools, building analytics capability, and improving ways of working
  • Lead your team to produce data-driven, customer lead planograms which are operationally efficient while maximising sales and profitability to agreed business standards
  • Own, develop, and improve micro space principles and standards
  • Review and approve planograms to ensure consistency and quality across your team
  • Lead the Range Review process and manage equipment ordering co-ordination
  • Work closely with stores and central operations, providing clear direction to ensure planograms are implemented correctly and efficiently
  • Coach and develop team members through strong leadership and leading by example
  • Contribute to ongoing innovation, improvement, and strengthening working relationships within the Space Planning Team and wider business
  • Coach and develop team members in new ways of working while developing process, procedures, and reporting to continue to drive improved performance and results

About you

Ideally tertiary qualified in Merchandising or related, you will be highly skilled with space planning systems (BlueYonder preferred) with 3 -5 years’ experience working within a complex retail environment and a strong understanding of end-to-end category management principles.

An established knowledge of practices and strategies driving space planning policies and procedures including fixture management, merchandising, ranging, pricing strategies, and customer behaviour is key.

Your passion for big ideas and continuous improvement enables you to engage with stakeholders across all levels of the business, leveraging strong communication and interpersonal skills.
