Title:  Commercial Transformation Manager

Location:

Chadstone, Victoria, AU

About us

At Officeworks we make bigger things happen. Our customers, our team, and our community are our heart and soul. And if our brilliant people have taught us anything, it is that we can do all kinds of incredible things, each and every day.

Fast paced. Innovative. Inspiring. With close to 10,000 team members and a national footprint of more than 173 retail stores Australia wide – we’re focused on delivering a wide range, low price and great service. We’re about inspiring new ideas and thinking outside the box. We’re about kicking goals, having a laugh and pushing each other. We are about being rewarded and supported. We’re about teaching a customer something new and supporting the community. We’re about making a difference.

About the role

This role is all about taking great ideas and turning them into real, tangible outcomes for the business. You’ll work closely with our Merchandise, Services and B2B teams and broader stakeholders to shape and deliver some of our most important strategic initiatives—helping define where we go next and how we get there.
No two days will look the same. At times, you’ll be deep in analysis—building a business case, exploring data, or understanding what’s happening in the market. At other times, you’ll be facilitating conversations, aligning stakeholders, and driving initiatives forward into execution. It’s a true end-to-end role, where you’ll see your work move from concept through to delivery and impact.
You’ll be working across a portfolio of evolving priorities. Right now, that includes areas like global sourcing, private brand acceleration, and direct-to-source initiatives—but there’s always more on the horizon. The role also plays a key part in challenging and improving our day-to-day ways of working, helping us operate smarter and more effectively.
This is a standalone role, so you’ll have a high level of ownership and autonomy. You’ll need to be comfortable stepping into ambiguity, creating structure, and driving progress—while building strong relationships to bring others along the journey.
If you enjoy variety, working at pace, and having real influence on both strategy and execution, this role offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

About you

You are a strategic thinker with a strong bias for action—equally comfortable building the strategy and rolling up your sleeves to deliver it.
You’re someone who enjoys solving complex problems and turning ideas into action. You’re naturally curious, commercially minded, and comfortable operating in environments where not everything is clearly defined yet. Rather than waiting for direction, you bring structure, ask the right questions, and help move things forward.
You’ve likely spent time (7 to 10 year’s experience) in strategy consulting, investment banking, or a retail strategy team, and are now looking for a role where you can see your thinking come to life through execution. You’re just as comfortable building a business case in Excel as you are facilitating a workshop or aligning senior stakeholders around a path forward.
You’ll need to be self-sufficient and confident working independently, while also building strong relationships across the business. You know how to influence without authority, bringing people on the journey through clear logic, data, and a collaborative approach.
You bring:
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, with experience building business cases and understanding EBIT impact
  • A sharp analytical mindset, with the ability to turn data into clear, actionable insights
  • Experience working across merchandising or retail topics such as pricing, promotions, sourcing, or category strategy
  • Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders—able to challenge constructively while building trust
  • A bias for action, with a track record of not just developing ideas but seeing them through to delivery
  • Comfort working in ambiguity, using structured, hypothesis-led thinking to create clarity
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex ideas
Above all, you’re pragmatic, collaborative, and outcomes-focused. You take ownership, adapt quickly, and care about delivering meaningful results for both the business and its customer.
