About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a strategy Finance Business Partner to join our Finance team, supporting the successful delivery of strategic and transformational projects across the business.   This is a strategic role, where you will think outside the box, analyse risks, model scenarios, and influence key decisions with robust business cases and data-driven recommendations partnering closely with our strategic project leads. 
 
You are driven by a culture of continuous improvement, striving to deliver best practice financial modelling, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes. You are inquisitive, bold and always looking at ways to improve efficiency and effectiveness of reporting and processes, and happy to work across and influence finance and non-finance stakeholders across all levels of the organisation. 
 
 
We offer great flexibility with 2-3 days per week working in our Chadstone Office with the remainder of your week working from home.  
 
 
As our Finance Business Partner – Transformation and Strategic Projects, you will: 
 
  • Support the annual budget process with business stakeholders, including delivery of Officeworks’ and Wesfarmers requirements across Profit and Loss (P&L), Balance sheet and Cash flow 
  • Play a key role in the capital Investment cycle, working collaboratively with Finance Business Partners who will be reviewing business cases and conducting cost-benefit analysis to evaluate the impact of strategic initiatives.  
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to provide strategic financial insight on project planning, budgeting, forecasting, and investment decisions. 
  • Analyse the financial and commercial performance of transformation programmes and produce insightful packs and reporting for internal investment forums and project teams 
  • Preparing any recurring & ad hoc analysis & insights to support operational decision making 
  • In partnership with the strategic project teams identify commercial risks & opportunities then co-creating action plans to remediate risks / maximise opportunities 
  • Support the development of all commercial assumptions informing key budgets and forecasts 
  • Monitor project performance, track ROI, and ensure governance compliance across all stages of the project lifecycle. 
  • Translate complex financial information into actionable insight for non-finance stakeholders. 

About you

You have strong commercial acumen with the ability to not only provide reporting but tell the story, understanding the why, challenge our thinking and provide insights to aid effective business decisions.  Your strong stakeholder engagement with the ability to influence, think laterally and whole of company approach will see you excel in this role, with a focus on driving actionable change.  In addition, you will have: 
 
  • A background in Retail and/or FMCG industries is highly desirable  
  • Minimum 6+ years’ experience in Commercial Finance roles with a CA/CPA qualification  
  • Demonstrated experience with Budgeting and forecasting processes, capital investment and/or corporate plan (financial modelling) activities 
  • Experience working with operational and commercial stakeholders at GM/Head of level in complex matrix organisations 
  • The ability to navigate ambiguous data / information in order to formulate hypotheses and deliver actionable insights 
  • Strong critical thinking ability with a proactive approach to continuous improvement  
  • Experience using SAP and Power BI platforms with advanced Excel skills (including building operational and financial models) 
  • Ability to convert complex information into actionable insights, with a focus on the “so what” and “now what”
