About the role

 

Our Senior Category and Content Manager plays a pivotal role in shaping our brand, growing our categories, and driving commercially impactful marketing that influences how customers discover, shop, and engage with us. 

 

In this role, you’ll partner closely with our Commercial team to set clear strategic priorities across key categories, champion insight led decision making, and bring new product launches to life. You’ll spot emerging trends and future growth opportunities, turning customer, category, and market insights into strategies that drive share, sales, and loyalty. 

 

You’ll also lead our end-to-end content strategy across multiple channels, ensuring our brand shows up with impact. From our Officeworks magazine to creator partnerships, influencers, and website content, you’ll steer a content ecosystem that delivers measurable results in engagement, conversion, and profitability. 

Reporting to our Head of Marketing & Retail Media, you’ll lead a team of 8 and play a key role in developing capability, fostering a positive and high-performing culture, and embedding a growth mindset across the function. 

 

As our Senior Category & Content Manager, you will: 

 

  • Develop insight led category marketing strategies aligned to key customer segments and business goals
  • Use data, trends, and customer insights to optimise category performance and influence decisions across Marketing, Product, and Customer Experience
  • Partner closely with Commercial teams to align marketing activity with trading priorities, product launches, and growth opportunities
  • Translate commercial plans into actionable, high-impact marketing initiatives
  • Influence product range, promotional strategies, and go-to-market decisions
  • Support range reviews and category planning with clear marketing insights to inform broader business decisions
  • Build tailored marketing plans that drive customer demand and support range or category objectives
  • Oversee Content marketing execution to elevate campaign visibility and performance

About you

You bring a deep understanding of retail, strong customer intuition, and proven experience delivering commercially focused campaigns. You know how to navigate trade plans, influence outcomes, and drive performance. This role also offers a fantastic opportunity to work closely with our Head of Marketing, providing high visibility, strong senior leadership exposure, and a fantastic pathway for career growth. 

  • 15+ years’ experience in retail, category marketing, or a related field
  • Strong understanding of advertising, production, content marketing, social media, and emerging AI technologies (advantageous)
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels and collaborate effectively with agencies and internal partners
  • Proven leadership capability, with experience coaching, developing, and supporting high-performing teams
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate customer and category insights into actionable marketing strategies 
  • Strong project management skills with a track record of leading and delivering cross functional initiatives 
  • Experience in product innovation and new product launch environments 
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, assess category performance, and guide commercial decision making 
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen and a passion for driving growth and performance.
