About the role
As our Head of Store Operations for our WA, SA, VIC & TAS markets, you are a pivotal senior leader shaping the performance, culture and execution of our retail business across your store markets (region). With a strong commercial and operational lens, you lead through others, translating strategy into action and ensuring consistent, disciplined delivery at scale.
Reporting to our Chief Operating Officer and operating with significant autonomy and influence, you own the end-to-end commercial performance of your market and play a critical role in connecting enterprise strategy with store level execution. You are a trusted leader of up to 8 Area Managers, a key partner to the National Support Office and Executive team, and a driving force behind sustainable growth, operational excellence and customer outcomes.
You will:
- Own and drive market level P&L performance, balancing sales growth, margin, EBIT and cost discipline
- Translate enterprise strategy into clear, executable priorities that lift performance across multiple areas and stores
- Lead, coach and develop a team of Area Managers, building strong capability, accountability and leadership depth
- Ensure consistent execution of retail standards, merchandise disciplines and pricing integrity at scale
- Champion a Safety FIRST culture, embedding care, compliance and wellbeing as non-negotiables
- Act as a critical connector between the Executive team and store operations, surfacing insights, resolving systemic issues and influencing enterprise decisions
- Lead largescale change and transformation initiatives that evolve the retail operating model
- Drive customer advocacy and loyalty by turning insight (including NPS) into targeted, measurable improvements
This is a highly visible, business critical role with broad operational span, significant commercial accountability and direct influence on business performance. You lead the “how” of strategy execution, setting the pace, standard and ambition for the retail network.
About you
You are a senior leader with a strong track record of leading teams through meaningful transformation, change and innovation. You build high performing, values led teams by investing in leadership capability, fostering inclusion and developing sustainable talent pipelines that reinforce our culture and long-term success. In addition, you will have:
- Extensive senior retail leadership experience (10+ years), leading large, multisite operations in complex environments
- A proven track record of owning and delivering results across large, complex P&Ls
- Advanced commercial and financial acumen, with a sharp focus on margin improvement and EBIT performance
- Highly analytical, with the ability to interpret complex data and translate insights into clear, actionable operational plans
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and challenge at senior executive level
- Deep understanding of retail safety legislation, ER/IR frameworks and compliance obligations
- Strong working knowledge of enterprise tools such as SAP, Kronos and Microsoft Office, enabling data driven decision making at scale
